Walking
From the center of Custer, head north on 5th Street towards Mt. Rushmore Road (US-16). Continue straight onto US-16 for approximately 10 miles. This route will take you through scenic areas, and you'll pass by several attractions along the way. Once you reach Hill City, keep an eye out for signs directing you to US-385 South. After about 2 miles on US-385, you will find the CCC Museum of South Dakota on your right at 23935 US-385. The total walking distance is approximately 12 miles, so be prepared for a longer trek.

If you are cycling, start from the center of Custer and head north on 5th Street towards Mt. Rushmore Road (US-16). Follow US-16 for about 10 miles. As you cycle, enjoy the beautiful Black Hills scenery. Once in Hill City, take the exit for US-385 South and continue for about 2 miles. The CCC Museum of South Dakota will be located on your right at 23935 US-385. This route is about 12 miles long and is suitable for cyclists.
