Car
If you have a car, start from the main entrance of Horton Plains National Park. Head towards the direction of the park exit and follow the signs that indicate the route to Beragala. Once you reach the main road (A7), turn left and continue on this road for approximately 7 kilometers. Look for the signposts indicating Thangamale Sanctuary, where you will take a right turn at the junction. Continue on this road for about 2 kilometers until you arrive at the sanctuary entrance. Please note that there may be a small fee for parking.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you will need to take a bus from the nearest major bus stop in Nuwara Eliya or Haputale. Buses frequently run to Beragala. Once you arrive at the Beragala bus stop, you can either walk or take a local tuk-tuk to Thangamale Sanctuary, which is about 3 kilometers away. Ensure to negotiate the tuk-tuk fare in advance, as it can vary.

If you are feeling adventurous and are already in the Horton Plains area, you can walk to Thangamale Sanctuary. From the Horton Plains National Park entrance, head towards the main road (A7) and follow the directions mentioned for cars. Walking will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
