Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car from Minneriya National Park, start by exiting the park through the main gate. Head south on the A1 road towards Dambulla. Continue on the A1 for approximately 18 kilometers until you reach the junction for Sigiriya. At the junction, take the right turn onto the A11 road. Follow the A11 for about 12 kilometers. You will see signs for Sigiriya on your right. Turn right onto the access road that leads to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, which is clearly marked. There is a parking area available for visitors at the base of the fortress. Note that there may be a parking fee of around 500 LKR, depending on the duration of your stay.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Sigiriya from Minneriya National Park using public transportation, first, you will need to get to the nearest town, which is Habarana. Exit the park and look for a local bus that goes to Habarana; these buses are frequent and cost about 50 LKR. Once you arrive at Habarana, you can take a tuk-tuk to Sigiriya. The tuk-tuk ride will take about 30 minutes and cost around 800 LKR. Inform the driver that you are visiting Sigiriya Rock Fortress, and they will take you directly to the entrance.
