Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Mirissa, head towards the main road (Galle-Matara Road). Walk down the road for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction at the Matara town entrance. Continue on this road until you see the signs for Matara Fort. The fort is located approximately 1 kilometer from the junction, and you will see it on your left as you approach.

  • Tuk Tuk

    You can easily find a tuk-tuk from any point in Mirissa. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Matara Fort. The ride will take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will take you directly to the fort, which is located at WGVX+P8R, Matara.

  • Bus

    From the Mirissa bus stand, take a local bus heading to Matara. Buses are frequent, and the journey takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Matara bus station, exit and walk towards the coast. The fort is about a 15-minute walk from the bus station. Head towards the beach and follow the signs for Matara Fort, which will be nearby.
