Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards the direction of World's End Road from Nuwara Eliya town. The most straightforward route is to take the A5 road heading towards Horton Plains National Park. Once on the A5, continue straight and look for signs leading to Horton Plains. You will reach the entrance of Horton Plains after about a 30-minute drive (approximately 27 km). There is an entrance fee of around 1,500 LKR per person for locals and 3,000 LKR for foreign tourists. After entering the park, follow the designated trails towards Great World's End Drop, which is approximately a 6 km hike from the entrance.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from Nuwara Eliya town to Horton Plains. Buses leave from the main bus station in Nuwara Eliya. Look for buses heading to 'Horton Plains' or 'Ohiya.' The bus ride will take about 45 minutes and cost around 100 LKR per person. After arriving at the Horton Plains entrance, purchase your entry ticket (1,500 LKR for locals and 3,000 LKR for foreign tourists). From the entrance, you will need to hike approximately 6 km on well-marked trails to reach Great World's End Drop.

• Taxi or Ride-Sharing

  If you prefer a more comfortable option, consider hiring a taxi or using a ride-sharing service from Nuwara Eliya to Horton Plains. This will allow you to avoid the hassle of public transport. The drive takes about 30 minutes and can cost between 2,500 LKR to 4,000 LKR depending on your negotiation skills and time of day. After arriving at Horton Plains, you will still need to purchase an entry ticket (1,500 LKR for locals and 3,000 LKR for foreign tourists) and hike approximately 6 km to reach Great World's End Drop.
