Experience Balangoda Viewpoint

Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Nuwara Eliya, start at the Nuwara Eliya Post Office. Head south on the Main Street towards the Kandy Road (A5). Walk for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with the Kandy Road. At the intersection, turn left onto Kandy Road and continue walking for approximately 2 kilometers. You will pass several shops and a few small eateries along the way. Keep an eye out for the signposts indicating Balangoda. After 2 kilometers, you will arrive at a bus stop where you can catch a bus to Balangoda. Make sure to ask the driver to let you know when you reach Balangoda.

  • Bus

    Once you are at the bus stop in Nuwara Eliya, look for buses heading towards Balangoda. These buses are usually marked with their destination. The journey to Balangoda will take about 1 hour. Upon arriving in Balangoda, get off at the main bus stop. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach Balangoda Viewpoint. Head southeast on the Pinnawala - Bogawantalawa Road (it should be clearly marked). The viewpoint will be on your left-hand side. Enjoy the scenic views along the way!

  • Tuk-Tuk

    If you prefer a quicker option, you can hire a tuk-tuk from Nuwara Eliya. You can find tuk-tuks near popular tourist spots or ask your hotel to arrange one for you. The ride to Balangoda Viewpoint should take around 30 minutes. Just tell the driver you want to go to Balangoda Viewpoint, located on the Pinnawala - Bogawantalawa Road, and they will take you directly there.
