Walking
From the center of Nuwara Eliya, head east on the Main Street (A5) towards the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club. Continue straight until you reach the junction with the A7 road, which is about 1.5 km. Turn left onto A7 and follow the road for approximately 20 km. You will pass through beautiful tea plantations and scenic views of the mountains. Keep an eye out for the signs indicating Mahiyangana. After about 20 km, you will reach the Mahiyangana town area. The temple is located at Bibile-Uraniya Road. You can ask locals for directions to Mahiyangana Raja Maha Vihara, as it is a well-known landmark.

From the Nuwara Eliya bus station, take a bus heading to Mahiyanganaya. Buses are usually available every hour, so check the schedule at the bus station. The journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to inform the conductor that you want to get off at Mahiyangana. Once you arrive in Mahiyanganaya, you can either walk or take a tuk-tuk to Mahiyangana Raja Maha Vihara, which is about 1 km from the bus stop.
