Car
If you're driving from Kandy, take the A26 road towards Matale. After approximately 25 kilometers, you'll reach the town of Matale. From Matale, head towards Minipe on the A9 road. Follow the signs to Minipe and continue for about 12 kilometers until you reach the Minipe town center. Here, you can ask locals for directions to Yahangala, which is located about 5 kilometers from Minipe. The road becomes narrower, so drive carefully. There may be a small parking area at the base of the trail leading to Yahangala.
Public Transportation
From Kandy, take a bus to Matale, which is a common route. The bus journey should take about an hour and costs around 50 LKR. Once in Matale, look for a bus heading to Minipe. This ride will take about 30 minutes and cost approximately 30 LKR. Upon arriving in Minipe, you can either ask locals for directions to Yahangala or hire a tuk-tuk, which may cost around 500 LKR to take you closer to the starting point of the hike.
Hiking
Once you have reached the vicinity of Yahangala, you'll need to hike to the peak. The trailhead is well-marked, but it is advisable to have a local guide if you are unfamiliar with the area. The hike can take about 1-2 hours depending on your pace, and the terrain can be steep at times. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry water and snacks for the journey.
