Getting There

  • Car

    From the center of Polonnaruwa, head east on the A11 road. Continue straight for about 3 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Menik Vehera, which is marked by a sign on the left side. Turn left onto the small road that leads directly to Menik Vehera, which is approximately 1 kilometer ahead. There is parking available near the entrance.

  • Public Bus

    Catch a bus from the Polonnaruwa bus station heading towards Batticaloa. Inform the driver you want to get off at Menik Vehera. The bus will take you along the A11 road, and you should get off when you see the sign for Menik Vehera. The fare is around 30 LKR. After getting off, walk about 1 kilometer down the small road to reach the site.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    You can hire a tuk-tuk from anywhere in Polonnaruwa. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Menik Vehera. The trip should cost you between 300 to 500 LKR depending on your starting point and negotiation skills. The driver will take you directly to the entrance.
