Start at the Polonnaruwa Archaeological Museum, which is located in the city center. From the museum, head east on the main road (New Town Road) for about 1 km until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto the Mahiyangane-Dimbulagala-Dalukkane Highway (A11 road). Continue walking straight for approximately 1.5 km. You will notice signage indicating the direction to the Namal Pokuna Temple Ruins. Follow these signs as you approach the site.

If you are renting a bicycle, start at the Polonnaruwa bus station. Head northwest on the main road towards the New Town Road and continue straight for about 1.2 km until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the Mahiyangane-Dimbulagala-Dalukkane Highway (A11 road) and ride for approximately 1.5 km. Look for the signs directing you to the Namal Pokuna Temple Ruins and follow them to reach your destination.

To get to Namal Pokuna Temple Ruins via a tuk-tuk, find a tuk-tuk at any popular area in Polonnaruwa, such as near the Polonnaruwa bus station or the archaeological museum. Tell the driver you want to go to Namal Pokuna Temple Ruins. The ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes, as it is around 3 km from the city center. The driver will take you directly to the entrance of the ruins.
