Walking
Start from the Polonnaruwa Archaeological Museum, which is centrally located in Polonnaruwa. From the museum, head east on New Town Road (also known as the Polonnaruwa - Habarana road) for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass the Polonnaruwa Resthouse on your left. Continue straight until you reach the main junction where the road splits. At this junction, take the left fork onto Dimbulagala Road. Walk for another 2 kilometers, following the signs towards Dimbulagala. As you approach Dimbulagala, keep an eye out for local signs that direct you to Pathagala Rajamaha Viharaya. The temple is located just off the main road, approximately 300 meters down a small path leading to the right.

Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Polonnaruwa. Start at the Polonnaruwa Archaeological Museum and head east on New Town Road (Polonnaruwa - Habarana road). Cycle for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction where the road forks. Take the left fork onto Dimbulagala Road and continue cycling for about 2 kilometers. Watch for signs indicating the direction to Dimbulagala and Pathagala Rajamaha Viharaya. Once you get close, look for a small path on the right leading to the temple, about 300 meters from the main road.

From any location in Polonnaruwa, find a nearby tuk-tuk. Tell the driver you want to go to Pathagala Rajamaha Viharaya in Dimbulagala. The driver will likely take you along New Town Road (Polonnaruwa - Habarana road) for around 1.5 kilometers before reaching the main junction. They will turn left onto Dimbulagala Road and drive for about 2 kilometers. Ask the driver to drop you off at the small path that leads to the temple, located about 300 meters from the main road.
