If you are starting from the Polonnaruwa bus station, exit the station and head east on New Town Road. Continue walking straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the main entrance of Polonnaruwa Ancient City. Once there, purchase your entry ticket and proceed to explore the site. After visiting the main attractions, head east toward the Medirigiriya junction, which is about 5 kilometers away. You can ask locals for directions if needed, as they are usually very friendly and helpful.

From the Polonnaruwa bus station, you can rent a bicycle from one of the nearby rental shops. Once you have your bike, take New Town Road heading east for 1.5 kilometers until you reach the entrance of Polonnaruwa Ancient City. After exploring, continue on your bicycle toward Medirigiriya. The road is generally flat and scenic, and it's about a 5-kilometer ride. Keep an eye out for road signs that indicate the direction to Medirigiriya.
