If you are driving from Ampara town, take the A4 highway towards Polonnaruwa. After approximately 80 kilometers, you will reach Polonnaruwa. Once in Polonnaruwa, look for signs directing you towards Thivanka Pilimage Road (X2F3+WJR). The Lotus Pond (Ancient Nelum Pokuna) is located along this road. The total journey may take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic conditions.

From Ampara, head to the local bus station and take a bus heading towards Polonnaruwa. Buses run frequently and the fare is approximately 100-150 LKR. Once you arrive in Polonnaruwa, you can take a tuk-tuk or a local bus to reach Thivanka Pilimage Road (X2F3+WJR). The tuk-tuk ride will cost around 300-500 LKR. The entire trip will take about 2.5 to 3 hours including waiting and travel time.
