Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Moshi, which is approximately 45 kilometers away from Mount Kilimanjaro National Park. Head southwest on the A23 road towards Arusha. After about 25 kilometers, you will see signs for the park entrance. Turn left onto the B1 road, and continue for another 15 kilometers until you reach the park gate. Expect to pay an entrance fee at the gate, which is around $70 for international tourists. Ensure you have cash in Tanzanian Shillings or US Dollars.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Mount Kilimanjaro National Park using public transportation, take a daladala (minibus) from Moshi to Marangu. The ride takes about 30 minutes and costs around 1,000 TZS (Tanzanian Shillings). Once you reach Marangu, you can hire a taxi or a private car to take you to the park entrance, which is approximately 12 kilometers away. The taxi fare should be around 10,000-15,000 TZS. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting the journey.

  Many tour operators in Moshi offer shuttle services directly to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park. The shuttle typically leaves from their office in Moshi and takes about 45 minutes to reach the park entrance. Ensure to confirm the pick-up time and location with your tour operator.

  If you prefer a more direct and comfortable option, you can hire a taxi from Moshi to the park entrance. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes and costs around $40-50 USD, depending on negotiation. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey. Taxis are readily available in Moshi, but ensure you choose a reputable company or ask your hotel for recommendations.
