Getting there

Private Car

If you are traveling by private car, start from Moshi or Arusha. From Moshi, take the B1 road heading towards Arusha. After approximately 30 km, follow signs for the Machame Gate, which is the main entry point to Kilimanjaro National Park. The road will lead you through lush landscapes until you reach the gate. There, you will need to pay the park entrance fees, which can vary but typically range from $70 to $100 per person per day. After entering the park, follow the signs to Kibo Huts, which is about a 5-7 hour hike from the last campsite (Barafu Camp). Make sure you have a guide as it is mandatory in the park.

Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, you can take a shared taxi or ‘dala dala’ (local minibus) from Moshi to Machame Gate. The fare is usually around $2 to $5, depending on your negotiation skills.
