Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest main town, Kasese. Head south on the Kasese-Bundibugyo road (A109) for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction at Bwera. Turn left onto the road towards the Rwenzori Mountains National Park. Continue on this road for about 20 kilometers until you reach the park entrance at Nyakalenjija. Here, you will need to pay an entrance fee (approximately 30,000 UGX per person for foreign tourists). From the park entrance, follow the signs to the Twin Crater Lakes trailhead. The road may be rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. The last leg of the journey will involve a short hike to reach the lakes.

Public Transportation
To reach Twin Crater Lakes using public transportation, take a matatu (shared taxi) from Kasese to Bwera. The fare is usually around 3,000 UGX per person. Once in Bwera, you can either hire a local boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you to the Rwenzori Mountains National Park entrance for about 10,000 UGX, or walk the distance if you prefer. Upon reaching the park entrance, make sure to pay the entrance fee of approximately 30,000 UGX per person. After entering the park, you will need to join a guided group or hire a local guide to help you navigate to the Twin Crater Lakes. The hike from the entrance to the lakes typically takes about 2-3 hours and varies in difficulty.

If you are already within the Rwenzori Mountains National Park and have access to the trailhead for Twin Crater Lakes, begin your hike from the designated starting point. The hike is moderately challenging and will take around 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to bring sufficient water and snacks, as well as proper hiking gear. Follow the well-marked trails and signs to ensure you stay on the correct path. The views along the way are stunning, and you may encounter local wildlife, so keep your camera ready!
