If you are driving to Carsington Water from Derby, take the A6 northbound towards Matlock. After about 12 miles, take the A5012 towards Bakewell/Ashbourne. Follow this road for approximately 4 miles until you reach the B5035. Turn left onto the B5035 and continue for 2 miles. Follow the signs for Carsington Water. The main car park is located at Big Lane, Upper Town, Ashbourne DE6 1ST. There may be a parking fee, so be prepared with coins or a card.

To reach Carsington Water via public transport, start by taking a train to Derby Station. From there, take the bus number 6 or 6.1 towards Ashbourne. The journey takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Ashbourne, you can either walk (around 2.5 miles) or take a taxi to Carsington Water. If walking, head south on the A515, turn left onto the B5035, and follow the signs to Carsington Water.
