Walking
If you are starting from Edinburgh Waverley Station, exit the station and head towards the East Market Street. Cross the road and follow the path towards the Mound. Continue up the Mound, which will lead you to the National Gallery of Scotland. Once you reach the top, you will find yourself at the junction with the Royal Mile. Turn left onto the Royal Mile and walk until you reach North Bridge. Cross North Bridge and follow the signs towards Calton Hill. You will eventually reach a set of steps leading up to Calton Hill. Climb the steps, and you'll find the Dugald Stewart Monument at the top of the hill, with stunning views of the city.

From Princes Street, walk to the nearest bus stop and catch a bus heading towards 'Leith' or 'Portobello'. Get off at the 'Calton Hill' stop. Once you exit the bus, look for the path leading up to Calton Hill. Follow the path, which will take you directly to the Dugald Stewart Monument. This option is convenient and allows you to enjoy the scenery along the way.

If you are near the Palace of Holyroodhouse, exit the palace grounds and head towards the Scottish Parliament. From there, walk up Horse Wynd and then turn left onto Regent Road. Follow Regent Road until you reach the entrance to Calton Hill. Climb the hill, and you will see the Dugald Stewart Monument at the summit. This route offers a lovely view of the park and the city as you ascend.
