From the Northumberland Coast area, take the A1 road southbound. Follow signs for Hexham and then take the A69 towards Carlisle. Exit the A69 at the B6318 towards Housesteads Roman Fort. Follow the B6318, which will lead you directly to Housesteads Roman Fort. There is a car park available on-site, but please note that there is an entrance fee for the fort itself, which is managed by English Heritage.

If you are using public transport, take a bus from major towns along the Northumberland Coast (e.g., Alnwick or Berwick) to Hexham. From Hexham, transfer to the AD122 bus service which operates specifically to Housesteads Roman Fort. The bus service runs several times a day, but be sure to check the latest schedule as it may vary seasonally. The fare for the bus from Hexham to Housesteads is typically around £5. Once you arrive, follow the signs to the visitor centre and entrance.
