Travel Guide to Baile Hill

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from York Minster, head south on Minster Yard towards Ogleforth. Turn left onto Ogleforth and continue onto Stonegate. Follow Stonegate until it becomes High Petergate, then keep straight onto The Shambles. At the end of The Shambles, turn right onto Pavement. Continue straight until you reach the junction with the River Ouse. Cross the river using the Ouse Bridge and continue onto Bishopgate. Keep walking straight until you reach a fork; take the left path onto Baile Hill. The hill will be on your left.

• Walking

  From the York Railway Station, exit the station and turn left onto Station Road. Follow this road until you reach the roundabout, then take the second exit onto Leeman Road. Continue straight until you reach the junction with the River Ouse. Cross the river using the Ouse Bridge and follow Bishopgate straight ahead. At the fork, take the left path onto Baile Hill, which will be on your left.

  Starting from the York Castle Museum, exit the museum and head towards the River Foss. Walk along the riverbank, heading west until you reach the River Ouse. Cross the Ouse Bridge and follow Bishopgate. Continue straight until the fork, taking the left path that leads to Baile Hill. The hill will be on your left side.

• Walking

  If you are at the York City Walls, find the nearest gate and exit onto the street. Head towards the River Ouse. Walk along the river until you approach Ouse Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue along Bishopgate. At the fork, take the left path leading to Baile Hill, which will be on your left.
