Walking
From the main entrance of the Vatican Museums, exit the building and turn left onto Viale Vaticano. Continue walking straight along Viale Vaticano for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with Via della Stazione di San Pietro. Cross the street and continue straight on Via della Stazione di San Pietro, which will lead you to the entrance of St. Peter's Square. Keep walking straight through the square, and you will see the iconic St. Peter's Basilica ahead. From there, exit the square onto Via di Porta Angelica, and then take a left onto Via di Valle Aurelia. Continue walking straight until you reach the Tiber River. Once you arrive at the river, turn right and walk along the riverside until you see Ponte Milvio, which is approximately 2 kilometers away.
Public Transport
After visiting the Vatican Museums, make your way to the Ottaviano-San Pietro station, which is about a 10-minute walk from the museum. To get there, exit the museum, turn left onto Viale Vaticano, and continue until you reach the intersection with Via Ottaviano. Turn right onto Via Ottaviano, and you will find the metro station on your right. Take Line A (the orange line) towards Anagnina. In about 4 stops, get off at the Flaminio station. Exit the station and head towards Piazza del Popolo. From there, walk straight along Via del Corso, and after about 1.5 kilometers, turn left onto Via di San Giovanni in Laterano, which will lead you to Ponte Milvio. The walk from Piazza del Popolo to Ponte Milvio is approximately 20 minutes.
Taxi
If you prefer a quicker option, you can take a taxi from the Vatican Museums to Ponte Milvio. After exiting the museum, you can find a taxi stand near the entrance. Tell the driver you want to go to Ponte Milvio. The drive will take about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. This option is ideal if you’re looking to save time and reduce walking.
