From downtown Fredericksburg, walk to the nearest bus stop for the FRED transit system. Take the FRED bus Route 1 towards Spotsylvania Courthouse. This bus will take you directly to the Spotsylvania area. The trip takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Get off at the 'Spotsylvania Courthouse' stop. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk to the Spotsylvania Court House Battlefield located at 9550 Grant Dr. Follow Grant Dr. northeast until you reach the battlefield entrance.

If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bike from one of the local bike shops in Fredericksburg. Start by heading east on Princess Anne St. towards the Rappahannock River. Cross the river and continue on Route 1. Follow Route 1 north for about 10 miles until you reach the intersection with Grant Dr. Turn right onto Grant Dr and proceed for about a half-mile to the battlefield entrance. The total ride will take roughly 1 hour depending on your cycling speed.

For those who enjoy a long walk, start from the center of Fredericksburg. Head north on William St. until you reach the intersection with Route 1. Continue walking on Route 1 for about 10 miles, which will take approximately 2-3 hours. Once you reach the intersection with Grant Dr, turn right and walk for another half-mile to arrive at the Spotsylvania Court House Battlefield. Ensure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
