Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the main Harpers Ferry National Historical Park Visitor Center, located at 171 Shoreline Drive. Head south on Shoreline Drive and take a right onto Route 340 (Washington Street). Continue on Route 340 for about 1 mile. Take the exit toward Bolivar and merge onto Bolivar Road. Follow Bolivar Road for approximately 0.5 miles until you reach Whitman Avenue. Turn left onto Whitman Avenue, and Bolivar Heights Battlefield will be on your right. There is no parking fee at the battlefield.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, take the MARC Train from Washington, D.C. to Harpers Ferry Station. Once you arrive at the Harpers Ferry Station, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service, as there is no direct public transport to Bolivar Heights Battlefield. The taxi ride will take about 10 minutes and may cost around $10-$15. Ask the driver to take you to Whitman Avenue in Bolivar, WV, where Bolivar Heights Battlefield is located.
