Zekate House, also known as Kulla e Zekateve, is a magnificent historical mansion in Gjirokastër, Albania, representing a significant piece of Ottoman-era architecture. Built in 1811-1812 for Beqir Zeko, a local administrator and general under Ali Pasha's government, the house is one of the grandest examples of Gjirokastër's Ottoman architectural style. The house is an urban kullë (tower house), featuring two towers and a large double-arched facade. The design reflects the authentic southern Albanian Tosk style of residential housing from the early 19th century, showcasing how wealthy Albanians lived. The ground floor, or katoqi, was used for storage. The upper floors include family living quarters, ornate reception rooms, and smaller chambers, all adorned with frescoes, carved wooden ceilings, and decorative fireplaces. The audience room, located between the towers, is particularly striking, decorated with colorful floral patterns and tinted windows. Today, Zekate House operates as a museum, allowing visitors to explore its well-preserved interior and learn about Gjirokastër's history and cultural heritage. From the house, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Gjirokastër, including the castle and the Drino Valley.
