From the cruise ports (Havensight or Crown Bay), the taxi ride to Sapphire Beach is about 7 miles and takes approximately 20-25 minutes, depending on traffic. The fare is approximately $15 per person for two or more passengers or $21 for a single passenger.

  • Public Transport

    From Charlotte Amalie, take the East End bus via Red Hook. Ask to be let off at the entrance to Sapphire Bay; it's a short walk from there to the beach. The bus fare is typically a few dollars, but exact fares and schedules may vary. From Red Hook, local taxis are also readily available to take you to Sapphire Beach, which is about a mile away. Expect to pay around $10-$15 for the taxi ride from Red Hook to Sapphire Beach.

    If driving from Charlotte Amalie, follow Route 30 East. Continue onto Route 32 and follow the signs for Sapphire Beach. Free self-parking is available at Sapphire Beach. Address 6320 Smith Bay Rd can be used as a starting point.

Historically, the Sapphire Beach Resort & Marina started as a commercially owned resort in the early 1980s. When the initial entity went out of business, the property was divided and sold as individual vacation condos. Today, it operates as a collection of privately owned condos with an association overseeing the property.
