Car
If you are driving, head towards the Golden Stairs parking area. From Katoomba, take the Great Western Highway (A32) towards Wentworth Falls. After approximately 6 kilometers, turn onto Lurline Street (B59) towards Katoomba. Continue for about 1.5 kilometers, then turn left onto the Old Bathurst Road. Follow this road until you reach the Golden Stairs parking lot, which is well-signposted. Parking is available, but be aware that there may be a fee during peak times.
Public Transport
To reach Ruined Castle walking track via public transport, take a train from Sydney to Katoomba Station. Trains run regularly from Sydney Central Station to Katoomba and the journey takes approximately 2 hours. Once at Katoomba Station, you can catch a local bus (Route 686) that heads towards Scenic World. Get off at the stop for the Golden Stairs. Be sure to check the bus schedule as services may be limited on weekends and public holidays.
Walking
After parking at the Golden Stairs, follow the well-marked trail that descends steeply. The track is made up of over 800 steps, so be prepared for a workout. The walk to Ruined Castle takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Keep an eye out for signage along the trail to ensure you stay on the correct path.
