Car
If you are driving, start by heading to the town of Innisfail, which is about 90 kilometers south of Cairns. From Innisfail, take the Bruce Highway (A1) heading south. After approximately 14 kilometers, turn left onto the Palmerston Highway (B1) towards Millaa Millaa. Continue on the Palmerston Highway for about 25 kilometers until you reach the town of Millaa Millaa. Here, turn left onto the Gillies Highway (B115). Follow this for approximately 10 kilometers, then take a right onto Zillie Falls Road. Follow Zillie Falls Road for about 3 kilometers, where you will find the car park for Zillie Falls. Note that there is no entry fee for parking.
Public Transportation
Public transport options to Zillie Falls are limited, but you can take a bus from Cairns to Innisfail. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once in Innisfail, you will need to either rent a car or arrange for a taxi to take you to Zillie Falls, as there are no direct public transport routes to the falls. Renting a car is recommended for flexibility, and you can find rental services in Innisfail. Expect to pay around AUD 70-100 per day for a rental car.
Walking
Once you arrive at the Zillie Falls car park, the falls are accessible via a short walking trail. The walk is approximately 1.5 kilometers round trip and takes about 30 minutes. The trail is well-marked and leads you through lush rainforest to the viewing platform overlooking the waterfall. Ensure to wear good walking shoes, and bring water and a camera to capture the beautiful scenery.
