If you are traveling by car, head towards Obertraun, which is a small village near Hallstatt. From the main road (B166), take the exit towards Obertraun. Continue on the L547 road until you reach Winkl 34, where the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car station is located. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes from Hallstatt. Parking is available near the cable car station, but be aware that there may be a parking fee.

To reach Dachstein Krippenstein via public transportation, start by taking a train to Obertraun. Trains run regularly from major cities like Salzburg and Vienna to Obertraun. Once you arrive at the Obertraun train station, you can take the bus (Bus Line 542) that heads towards the Krippenstein cable car station. The bus ride takes about 10 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as it may vary. The bus fare is around €2.50.

Once you reach the Krippenstein cable car station (Winkl 34, 4831 Obertraun), you will need to purchase a ticket for the cable car ride to the top of Dachstein Krippenstein. The one-way ticket costs approximately €20 for adults. The cable car operates daily from 08:40 AM to 05:00 PM. The ride offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and takes about 15 minutes to reach the summit.
