Walking
From the center of Hallstatt, make your way to the Hallstatt train station. Walk along the main street (Landungsplatz) towards the train station, which should take about 10-15 minutes. Once at the train station, purchase a ticket for the train to Obertraun. The train ride is approximately 5 minutes. Upon arrival at Obertraun station, exit the station and follow the signs to the Dachstein cable car station, which is about a 30-minute walk. You will walk along the main road (Obertraun) heading towards the cable car station. The cable car will take you up to Dachsteingletscher.

Start at Hallstatt's main square (Landungsplatz) and head towards the Hallstatt train station. After a short walk (10-15 minutes), buy a ticket for the train to Obertraun. The journey takes about 5 minutes. Once you arrive at Obertraun train station, disembark and follow the signs to the Dachstein cable car station. It’s about a 30-minute walk along the main road (Obertraun). At the cable car station, purchase your ticket to ascend to Dachsteingletscher.
