Getting There

Walking
Start at the Marktplatz (Market Square) in Hallstatt. Head east towards the main road (Lahnstraße) for about 100 meters until you reach the intersection with the Lahnstraße. Turn right and continue walking for another 200 meters until you see a sign for the funicular station on your left. Take the funicular up to the Hallstatt viewpoint, which will drop you off at the top. Once at the viewpoint, enjoy the stunning views of Hallstatt and the surrounding mountains.

After enjoying the viewpoint, walk back to the funicular station and take it back down. Once you reach the base, head back to Marktplatz. From there, walk to the north side of the square where you’ll find a path leading up towards the Church of St. Michael. Follow the path uphill for about 300 meters. The church will be on your left. Take your time to explore the church and soak in the serene atmosphere.
