Discover more about Swans Fountain

The Swans Fountain, situated in the heart of Baku at Azneft Square, stands as a symbol of the city's dynamic spirit and commitment to preserving its cultural heritage. This exquisite fountain, with its graceful swan figures, provides a serene retreat from the bustling city, inviting visitors to pause and appreciate its beauty. Originally constructed in the 1960s under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev, the fountain quickly became a beloved landmark for Baku residents. Inspired by the poem “Seven Beauties” by Nizami Ganjavi and the ballet of Gara Garayev, the fountain featured seven swan statues, which captured the hearts of the city. Azneft Square, where the fountain is located, has long been a vital part of Baku's urban and social scene, witnessing numerous cultural transformations throughout history. In 2007, during the reconstruction of the Seaside Boulevard, the original Swans Fountain was replaced with a new design. However, the cherished memories of the original swan statues persisted, leading to a restoration initiative in 2018 by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva. The restored fountain was inaugurated on August 28, 2018, returning its historical image to Azneft Square. Today, the Swans Fountain continues to be a must-see attraction, representing peace, harmony, and the enduring beauty of Azerbaijani culture.
