Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the town of Sapareva Banya, which is approximately 12 km away from the Seven Rila Lakes. Drive on the road 62 towards Rila Monastery. After about 10 km, you will see a sign for the Seven Rila Lakes on your right. Follow this road for about 8 km until you reach the parking lot at the base of the lift station. There is a parking fee of approximately 5 BGN (Bulgarian Lev) per day. From the parking lot, you will take a lift up to the lakes.

Public Transportation
To reach Seven Rila Lakes via public transportation, take a bus from Sofia to Sapareva Banya. Buses depart regularly from the Sofia Central Bus Station and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arriving in Sapareva Banya, you can take a taxi to the lift station (approximately 10 BGN), or if you prefer a more budget-friendly option, walk the 12 km to the lift station, which will take around 2.5 to 3 hours. Once you reach the lift station, purchase a lift ticket for about 15 BGN to take you up to the Seven Rila Lakes.
