Hike among the giants in groves like Belknap and McIntyre, discover the beauty of Hume Lake, or explore the rugged terrain along the Kings River. With over 50 developed campgrounds, numerous picnic areas, and access to the Pacific Crest Trail, Sequoia National Forest provides a stunning natural playground for outdoor enthusiasts year-round. Driving
From Visalia, the most common approach to Sequoia National Forest is via Highway 198 (Generals Highway). Follow Highway 198 east for approximately 35 miles to the Ash Mountain Entrance of Sequoia National Park. Note that this highway is winding and may not be suitable for very large RVs. Check vehicle length restrictions before you go. Continue on Generals Highway within the park to access various trailheads and groves within the southern portion of Sequoia National Forest. A $35 entrance fee is required to enter Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, which also grants access to the Hume Lake District of Sequoia National Forest/Giant Sequoia National Monument. The pass is valid for 1-7 days. Cashless payments are required at park entrances; however, passes can be purchased for cash at select locations outside the park.

Public Transport
During the summer months (late May to early September), the Sequoia Shuttle provides service from Visalia to the Giant Forest Museum in Sequoia National Park. From the transit center in Visalia, the round-trip fare is $20, which includes park entry. Reservations are required. Once inside the park, a free in-park shuttle connects to various destinations, including some trailheads within Sequoia National Forest. Check the Sequoia Shuttle website for schedules and pick-up locations.
