Discover more about Porat Dubrovnik

Porat Dubrovnik, also known as the Old Port, is nestled on the eastern side of the city, a place where history and stunning Adriatic views converge. Enclosed by the Porporela breakwater and the Kaše breakwater, this harbor has been a vital part of Dubrovnik's maritime story for centuries. Once a key strategic point defended by forts like St. Luke, St. John, and Revelin, today it welcomes private boats and ferries to Lokrum Island. In the 15th century, master architect Paskoje Miličević significantly shaped the port, constructing a bastion and the Kaše breakwater to protect ships. Before the breakwater, a chain stretched nightly between St. John and St. Luke forts to secure the harbor. The port suffered damage during the Homeland War, but it has since been revitalized, retaining its historical charm. Today, Porat Dubrovnik is more than just a departure point. It's a place to soak in the atmosphere, watch the boats, and imagine the countless stories this harbor has witnessed. From here, you can catch a short ferry ride to Lokrum Island, known for its botanical garden, historical ruins, and the unique 'Dead Sea' lake. Whether you're interested in history, nature, or simply a relaxing escape, Porat Dubrovnik offers a captivating glimpse into the heart of this remarkable city.
