    If you are driving, start by entering Cotopaxi National Park through the main entrance, which is located off the Pan-American Highway (E28). Follow the signs for Cotopaxi National Park. Once you enter the park, continue on the main road until you reach the parking area for the Limpiopungo Lagoon. From there, follow the signs directing you to Refugio Cotopaxi (Jose Ribas). The refuge is approximately a 30-minute drive from the parking area on a gravel road. Ensure your vehicle has good clearance as the road can be rough. Look for the coordinates 8HP6+MH5 on your GPS to arrive directly at the Refugio.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Refugio Cotopaxi using public transportation, start from Quito. Take a bus from the Quitumbe bus terminal towards Latacunga.
