Getting There

  • Car

    From Quilotoa Crater Lake, head south on the road towards the town of Zumbahua. After approximately 30 minutes, you will reach Zumbahua. Continue on the E28 highway towards Latacunga. After about 1 hour and 15 minutes, you will reach the town of Machachi. From Machachi, follow signs for Cotopaxi National Park. The entrance to the park is approximately 30 minutes from Machachi. Expect a small entrance fee of around $10 per person to enter the park. The drive to Cotopaxi from the park entrance will take approximately 20-30 minutes.

    From Quilotoa, take a local bus to Zumbahua. Buses generally leave every hour and cost around $1. Once in Zumbahua, transfer to a bus heading to Latacunga. After arriving in Latacunga, you will need to catch another bus to Machachi. The bus from Latacunga to Machachi costs approximately $2. From Machachi, you can take a taxi or a bus to Cotopaxi National Park, which may cost around $10 for a taxi or $1-2 for a bus.
