Getting There

  • Car

    The most common way to reach the Pieni Karhunkierros Trail is by car. From Kuusamo, drive north on Juumantie (road 950) for approximately 45 kilometers. Follow the signs to Juuma and the Pieni Karhunkierros Trail. A large, free parking area is available at the trailhead in Juuma (Juumantie 133, Kuusamo). Be aware that the parking lot can fill up quickly during peak season, so arriving early is recommended. Parking is also available at Basecamp Oulanka (Myllykoskentie 30, Kuusamo). Overnight parking is charged at 10 €/day.

  • Public Transport

    During the summer months (June-August), the Karhunkierros Trail Bus operates from Kuusamo to Juuma, the starting point of the Pieni Karhunkierros Trail. Check the Ruka website or Matkahuolto.fi for the current bus schedule. From the Juuma bus stop, it's a short walk to the trailhead. A single bus ticket from Kuusamo to Juuma costs approximately 10-15€.

    Taxis are available from Kuusamo and Ruka to the Pieni Karhunkierros Trail. Contact Ruka Taxi or Otaxi for group and private taxi services.
