Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Akhaltsikhe, head south on Shota Rustaveli Street towards the crossroads. At the crossroads, turn left onto Gamsakhurdia Street. Continue walking straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the bus station. Here, you can catch a local minibus (marshrutka) heading towards the village of Abuli. The fare is usually around 1 GEL. Inform the driver you are heading to Abuli Fortress. The journey will take approximately 20 minutes. Once you arrive in the village, ask locals for directions to the fortress, which is about a 30-minute uphill walk from the village center. Follow the signs or paths leading towards the fortress.

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in the city. Start from Akhaltsikhe and head south on Shota Rustaveli Street, then turn left onto Gamsakhurdia Street. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the bus station. From there, take the road towards Abuli village.
