Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Freiburg's main train station (Freiburg Hauptbahnhof), exit the station and head towards the city center. Follow the signs for 'Zentrum' and walk straight along Bismarckallee. After about 15 minutes, you will reach the intersection with Kaiser-Joseph-Straße. Turn left onto Kaiser-Joseph-Straße, a pedestrian street filled with shops and cafes. Continue straight until you see the Martinstor (the old city gate) on your right, which is a good landmark. From the Martinstor, turn left onto Rathausgasse. St. Martinskirche will be just a short walk ahead on your right at Rathausgasse 3.

    From Freiburg Hauptbahnhof, take tram line 1 or 3 towards 'Littenweiler' or 'Buchenbach' respectively. Get off at the 'Rathaus' stop, which is only a few stops away. After exiting the tram, walk towards the Rathaus (town hall), which is directly ahead. St. Martinskirche is located just behind the Rathaus, at Rathausgasse 3. It’s a short and easy walk from the tram stop.
