Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Zugspitze and head towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Follow the signs for the B2 road and continue for about 10 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to 'Zugspitze' and 'Zugspitzeck'. Once you reach Garmisch-Partenkirchen, follow the signs to the 'Zugspitze' cable car station. There is parking available near the cable car station, but be aware that parking fees may apply (around €5-€10 per day). After parking, proceed to the cable car station.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a train from Zugspitze to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Garmisch-Partenkirchen station, exit the station and head to the bus stop located right outside. Catch bus number 726, which goes directly to the 'Zugspitze' cable car station. The bus ride takes about 15 minutes. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as they may vary depending on the time of year. The total cost for the train and bus ride is approximately €10-€15.

• Cable Car

  After reaching the cable car station in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, purchase your ticket for the Zugspitze cable car. The ticket price varies depending on the season but generally ranges from €40 to €60 for a round trip. Once you have your ticket, board the cable car which will take you directly to the Zugspitze summit. The ride offers stunning views of the Alps and takes about 10-15 minutes.

• Hiking

  For the adventurous, you can hike to Zugspitzeck from the Zugspitze summit. After reaching the summit via the cable car, follow the marked trails leading to Zugspitzeck. The hike takes approximately 1-2 hours depending on your pace and offers breathtaking views along the way. Make sure to wear suitable hiking gear and check the weather conditions before you set out.
