Walking
Start at the Hveragerði town center, which is easily identifiable by the main square and the local shops around it. From the square, head west onto Þjóðvegur road (Route 1) for about 500 meters. Look for a sign indicating the path to Hengill on your right. Follow this path, which will lead you through some scenic landscapes. Continue walking for about 2 kilometers until you reach the base of Hengill. The route is well-marked with signs showing directions to the volcano.

Bicycle
If you prefer biking, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Hveragerði. Start at the rental shop and head towards the main square. From there, proceed to Þjóðvegur road (Route 1) and turn west. Continue riding for approximately 500 meters until you see the sign for Hengill on your right. Take this path, and after about 2 kilometers, you will arrive at the base of the volcano. The ride is enjoyable and you will pass through beautiful scenery along the way.
