If you are driving from Akureyri, head east on Route 1 (Ring Road). Continue for about 260 km until you reach Egilsstaðir. As you approach the town, take the exit towards Egilsstaðir. Once in town, follow the signs to Laufskógar 1. The East Iceland Heritage Museum is located at this address. There is free parking available nearby.

To reach the East Iceland Heritage Museum using public transport, take a bus from Akureyri to Egilsstaðir. The bus company Strætó operates this route, but be sure to check the schedule as it may not run frequently. Once you arrive at Egilsstaðir bus station, the museum is about a 15-minute walk. Head northeast on Aðalstræti, then turn left onto Laufskógar, where the museum is located at Laufskógar 1. Make sure to check the latest bus fares on the Strætó website.
