Walking
From the center of Saudarkrokur, head south on Aðalgata street towards the intersection with Lækjargata. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Route 1 (Ring Road) heading east. Follow this road for about 25km. You will pass through beautiful Icelandic countryside. Once you reach Varmahlíð, look for signs indicating Bakkaflöt. The rafting location will be on your right side, just before the bridge over the river.

Start at the local bike rental shop in Saudarkrokur. Head south on Aðalgata street towards the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Route 1 (Ring Road) heading east. The ride is approximately 25km and will take you through stunning landscapes. Make sure to follow the bike lane when available and stay safe. When you reach Varmahlíð, keep an eye out for Bakkaflöt on your right before the bridge.

Public Transport
From the main bus stop in Saudarkrokur, look for the bus that services the Route 1 line heading towards Varmahlíð. The bus schedule may vary, so check in advance for departure times. The journey should take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Varmahlíð bus stop, disembark and walk towards the river. Bakkaflöt will be located just a short walk from the bus stop on your right.
