Car
From Reykjavik, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading east. Continue on Route 1 for approximately 100 km until you reach the town of Selfoss. From Selfoss, take Route 30 towards Flúðir. Once in Flúðir, take Route 35 and then Route 37 towards Hella. Continue on Route 37 until you reach the junction with Route 1 again. Take a left onto Route 1 and drive for about 20 km until you see the signs for Þykkvibær. Take the turn off and follow the signs towards Sjafarborg. The Hegranesviti Lighthouse is approximately 20 minutes from there, located at QF95+W3, 551 Sjafarborg. Note that the last part of the journey involves a 30-minute walk from the nearest parking area to the lighthouse.

From Reykjavik, take a bus from BSI Bus Terminal to Selfoss. This journey takes about 1 hour. From Selfoss, transfer to a local bus heading to Flúðir and get off at the nearest stop. Depending on the bus schedule, you might need to wait for a connecting bus towards Hella. Once you reach Hella, you can either hire a taxi or use a ride-sharing app to get to Sjafarborg. After arriving in Sjafarborg, expect to walk for about 30 minutes to reach Hegranesviti Lighthouse. As bus schedules can vary, please check the latest timetables to ensure smooth connections.
