If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, which is Hvolsvöllur. Head east on Route 1 (the Ring Road) for approximately 30 km until you reach the junction for Route 26. Turn onto Route 26 towards Þórsmörk. After about 20 km, turn right onto the marked road towards Markarfljótsgljúfur Canyon. The road will be gravel and may require a 4x4 vehicle, especially in wet conditions. Continue for about 10 km until you reach the canyon area. Be cautious and check road conditions before setting out, as some routes may be impassable, particularly in winter.

Public transportation options are limited in this remote area. However, you can take a bus from Reykjavik to Hvolsvöllur.
