If you are in the town center of Athlone, start at Athlone Castle located on Castle Street. Head southeast on Castle Street towards Church Street. Continue walking straight until you reach the junction with the N61. Cross the N61 towards the Golden Island Shopping Centre. Once at the shopping centre, exit towards the riverfront and follow the path along the River Shannon. Walk along the path until you see the bridge. Cross the bridge, and then turn left onto the Unnamed Road. Continue walking along this road for about 10 minutes, and you will find Burgess Park (Páirc Burgess) on your right.

From Athlone Bus Station, take Bus Route 21 towards Golden Island. After a short ride, ask the driver to let you off at the Golden Island Shopping Centre stop.
