Getting There

    From the center of Assisi, start at Piazza del Comune. Head east on Via Giuseppe Mazzini which becomes Via San Francesco. Continue straight until you reach the Basilica of Santa Chiara. From there, take the stairs leading up towards the Rocca Maggiore (the fortress). Once at the fortress, follow the trail that leads you into the park. The path will guide you towards Str. Monte Subasio. Continue to follow the well-marked signs for Monte Subasio. The walk will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace.

    If you prefer a hiking route, start from the Basilica of San Francesco. Take the path that leads out of the back of the basilica, following the signs for the 'Sentiero Francescano.'
