Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Kurume Station (JR Kagoshima Main Line or Nishitetsu Omuta Line), take Nishitetsu Bus number 23 and get off at the Hyakunen Koen bus stop. The park is a short walk from the bus stop. A one-day free ticket "Kurume GoGo Ticket" for Nishitetsu Bus is available for ¥550 for junior high school students and older. Alternatively, from Nishitetsu Kurume Station, you can take bus number 5 for T-Joy Cinema/Yume Town mall, which is near the park.

  • Walking

    From Nishitetsu Kurume Station, the park is approximately a 25-minute walk. Head east, following the main roads, and look for signs directing you to Hyakunen Park. From Kurume Station, the park is approximately a 30-minute walk.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are readily available from both Kurume Station and Nishitetsu Kurume Station. A taxi ride from either station to Kurume Hyakunen Park will typically cost between ¥950 and ¥1200.

  • Driving

    From the Kurume IC, take National Route 322 for 300m. At the Nonoshita intersection, turn left onto National Route 210 and continue for 1.7km. The park has 160 free parking spaces available, including 12 spaces for disabled persons and 5 spaces for large buses. Parking is available from 7:00 to 22:00. Note that the parking lot is locked at night from 22:00 to 7:00.

Kurume Hyakunen Park, or 100 Year Park, was completed in 1989 to celebrate the centennial of Kurume City. Situated in the heart of the municipal recreation zone along the Kora and Chikugo rivers, the park provides a green oasis for locals and tourists. The park features expansive lawns perfect for picnics and events, as well as a multipurpose plaza. The azalea garden is a highlight, boasting approximately 120,000 azalea bushes, including the Yae-Kirishima variety. The park is especially vibrant during the Kurume Azalea Festival, typically held from April to May when the flowers are in full bloom. In addition to azaleas, the park has around 200 Someiyoshino cherry trees, making it a popular destination for cherry blossom viewing in late March and early April. The park also includes a playground for children. From the park, visitors can see the Mino mountain range to the east. Kurume Hyakunen Park offers a blend of natural beauty and recreational space, making it a versatile destination for relaxation and community gatherings.
