Public Transportation
If you're starting from Hakone, first take the Hakone Tozan Railway from Hakone-Yumoto Station to Gora Station. This scenic train ride takes about 30 minutes. From Gora Station, transfer to the Hakone Tozan Cable Car and ride to Sounzan Station. At Sounzan, switch to the Hakone Ropeway towards Togendai Station. Enjoy the breathtaking views as you travel. Once you reach Togendai, take the bus to Kamakura Station. The bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes. From Kamakura Station, take the JR Yokosuka Line to Kita-Kamakura Station, which is about 10 minutes. Finally, Engaku-ji is a 15-minute walk from Kita-Kamakura Station.

If you are driving from Hakone, take National Route 1 towards Odawara. Continue on Route 1 until you reach the junction with Route 134, which leads you to Kamakura. Follow Route 134, and you will eventually arrive in Kamakura. Once in Kamakura, use a navigation system or map application to direct you to Engaku-ji, located at 409 Yamanouchi, Kamakura, Kanagawa 247-0062. Parking is available near the temple, but be aware that some areas may require a parking fee.
