Public Transportation
From Hakone, take the Odakyu Line from Hakone-Yumoto Station to Shinjuku Station in Tokyo. This journey takes about 2 hours and costs approximately 2,200 yen. Once you arrive at Shinjuku Station, transfer to the JR Chuo Line (Rapid) towards Takao Station. The train ride to Takao Station will take about 50 minutes and costs around 400 yen.

Upon arriving at Takao Station, exit the station and head towards the north exit. You will see signs for the Takao Mountain Trail. The Biwa Falls Course begins at the trailhead located about a 20-minute walk from the station. Follow the signs and walk along the paved roads until you reach the trail entrance.

Car
If you are driving from Hakone, take Route 1 towards Hachioji. Follow the signs for Route 20 and then take the exit towards Takao. The drive will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Upon arrival, park at the Takao 599 Museum parking lot, which charges around 1,000 yen for parking. From there, it’s about a 30-minute walk to the Biwa Falls Course trailhead.

For a more convenient option, you can take a taxi from Hakone to Takao Mountain Trail. A taxi ride will take about 30-40 minutes and cost approximately 7,000-10,000 yen, depending on your starting point in Hakone and traffic conditions. Once you arrive, ask the driver to drop you off at Takao 599 Museum, which is a good starting point for accessing the trail.
